Yes, it’s been hot here at Little Gnesta B & B (thank goodness for our air-conditioned rooms!) but vacationers from all over the U.S. and Canada have been flocking to the Northeast Kingdom to recreate.
Here at Little Gnesta, we’ve had guests from New England, New York, Colorado, Washington State, Ohio, South Dakota, Michigan and Maryland. Many Quebecois, during their two-week “Construction Holiday” chose Newport for short get-aways.
Without exception, everyone has been awed by the sight of Lake Memphremagog (only two blocks away) while lodging at Little Gnesta. Many, who have visited us by bike, enjoyed the Lake Memphremagog Bike Trail which connects Newport to Beebe and Rock Island (and then Ayers Cliff) in Quebec. We always encourage our visitors to bring their passports so they can sample experiences just across the border (only 6 miles.)
Just 15 minutes away at the sweet little Rococo theater which sits half in Canada and half in Derby Line, VT, the Haskell Opera House, an entertaining production of “The 39 Steps” was presented. “Hairspray” is up next and promises to be a rollicking good time. Shown here are some images of the “39 Steps” set and other features of the opera house.
